Iowa freshman Mike Stein won a gold medal for the United States in the men's javelin throw with a second-round effort of 234-2 (71.38m) at the Pan American U20 Championships at Jose A. Figueroa Freire Stadium in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The men's javelin gold medal was the second in a row for the Americans, including Tzuriel Pedigo in 2019 in Costa Rica.
