Canada set to host 2015 Panamerican Junior Athletics Championships – Eleven Cities Express Interest

OTTAWA - Athletics Canada is pleased to announce that they have secured the rights to host the 2015 Panamerican Junior Athletics Championships, held every two years, the championships stack up the best under-20 competition for junior aged athletes outside of the IAAF World Junior Championships.  Canada last hosted this event in 2005 when it took place in Windsor, Ont.

This past spring a call for interested parties went out with a record eleven cities expressing interest to host the event in 2015.  The potential host communities have until January 31, 2012 to submit their formal bid candidature.  Short listed candidates will make their final presentations in Ottawa, Ont., during Athletics Canada’s 2012 Annual General Meeting in May with the host city selected shortly after in early June.

Canada has a long tradition of hosting successful international events such as the recent 2010 World Junior Championships, the 2005 Pan Am Junior Championships, 2004 NACAC U-23 Championships, 2003 World Youth Championships and 2001 World Championships.
